I am a thirty-three year old woman who just started running. I have a rare condition called Hyperaldosteronism, which causes me to have hypertension. I have no history of exercising due to childhood asthma. I have stopped using that as an excuse now that it has been almost twenty years since I've outgrown it. I also like expressing the crazy shit that happens from time to time in my life. I will treat this like a journal of sorts.

I do have a plan...I really do
How fast time goes by. I really can't believe that it has been over a month since I wrote or ran. Well I can believe the part about running. It always happens the same. I get going on a good routine and then something silly happens like an illness or a hurt toe and it knocks me off my game. It's not an excuse at all. It is the truth. I am not happy with myself at all. I went out of town two weekends in a row in July after the toe incident and ate way too much food. I haven't been on the scale but I am pretty sure I am up at least 4lbs. That is added to the 5lbs I already had put on before I started this blog. So now a total of 10lbs of fat and disgust have found their way to my stomach and ass and it is just plain depressing. Since I turned 33 the weight just keeps adding on. Gone are the days where I can eat what I want when I want. I miss those days right now. But all is not lost. I still have my plan to run a half marathon at the end of the year. It may not end up being the one I had planned on in November but I will get one in this year. I took a break after my hurt toe and decided that it was just too damn hot here in Tampa, FL to run. Now that is just an excuse. I am very well versed in coming up with excuses. I probably could do that for a living if such a job existed - excuse maker. But I do have my plan set. I have in front of me a schedule to run a 15k in 10 weeks. My first day back to running will be next Monday which so happens to be my first day at USF. I am going to use their facilities (which are free) to start my running again. I hope that using the treadmill there will help with the complaints about the heat. I like to run outside but it can be very inconvenient. I don't like having to hold a water bottle but if I go too far I need water. I also don't like the smell of roadkill whenever I happen upon that nasty discovery. I know that some may think I am being a wimp about the heat but really folks, it is very hot here right now and I don't want to get up at 4:30 am to run. That is asking a lot of most anyone I know. So my plan is to start at week one (again) and hopefully be ready for the 15k in 10 short weeks. I will be writing again on Monday after my first day of class.
