I am a thirty-three year old woman who just started running. I have a rare condition called Hyperaldosteronism, which causes me to have hypertension. I have no history of exercising due to childhood asthma. I have stopped using that as an excuse now that it has been almost twenty years since I've outgrown it. I also like expressing the crazy shit that happens from time to time in my life. I will treat this like a journal of sorts.

What a Weekend!!
Gasparilla was fantastic!! I had so much fun on Saturday running the 5k with my friend Brittany. We did well considering the heat and the amount of people there (15,000)! I didn't set any records but I wasn't trying to. It took over 6 minutes for us to pass the start line after the gun went off. That is how crowded it was. BUT...today I went out and ran 3.1 miles in 36:16. My pace was faster than it was on Saturday, right around 11:40. I am very proud of myself and feel as though I am finally on track to keep this up. My next goal is to get to running 4 miles. I go out again tomorrow night and I am shooting for 3.5 miles but if I am feeling good I will try to make it to 4. I have my sights set on a half marathon in November. I know I said this last year but I feel things are different. I don't have a heavy load of school work to do and I am not getting used to life at USF. I am finally settled and I feel I have time to concentrate on my running. I will be running another race in March but I haven't decided yet on the 5k or the 10k. It all depends on how I do in the next two weeks. The 10k is a stretch for sure, but it's time for me to push my body a little. Either way I will be running. I may just shoot for a PR for the 5k but I am worried about the heat. It was really hot on Saturday. We started at 9:30 and feel it was too late for this time of year. The heat kills me. I guess I will have to learn to run though it considering I live where I live. So until my next accomplishment...
